Background to the 11 Plus Exam in Yorkshire – North

There are three Grammar Schools in Yorkshire – North that children will need to take an 11 Plus Exam to get into.

Ermysted Grammar School

Ripon Grammar School

Skipton Girls’ High School

 

Yorkshire – North 11 Plus Exam Format Details 

Each Grammar School has a separate exam process

Ermystead Grammar School – two multiple choice papers provided by GL Assessment including:

  • A Mathematics and Non-verbal reasoning paper
  • An English and Verbal reasoning paper

Ripon Grammar School – has tests provided by GL Assessment. Each pupil will sit one set of tests consisting of two papers including:

  • Verbal reasoning paper lasting 50 minutes
  • Non-Verbal reasoning paper consisting of 4 sections lasting 10 minutes each

Skipton Girls’ Grammar School – paper set by GL Assessment and each applicant must sit three multiple choice tests in:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Verbal Reasoning
