Berkshire Reading 11 Plus Exam Format

Background to the 11 Plus Exam in Reading

There are three Grammar Schools in Reading that children will need to take an 11 Plus Exam to get into.

Reading 11 Plus Exam Format Details

At Kendrick School  the exam is written by CEM.  CEM 11 Plus Exams have two papers and mixed within those papers are sections on the following topics:

  • Numerical Reasoning (Maths calculation and problem solving questions)
  • Verbal Reasoning (English comprehension and vocabulary testing)
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning

At Reading Grammar School the exam is written by the school.  The exam covers the following topics:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Creative Writing (this part of the exam is written by FSCE)

At Reading Girls’ Grammar School the Exam is written by GL and covers:

  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning
  • Maths
