Background to the 11 Plus Exam in Hertfordshire – Southwest

There are six Grammar Schools in Hertfordshire – Southwest that children will need to take an 11 Plus Exam to get into.

Hertfordshire – Southwest 11 Plus Exam Format Details

In Hertfordshire – Southwest the Grammar Schools administer their tests as a consortium often called the South-West Herts Consortium of Schools and all has GL Assessment as their examination board. This exam includes:

  • A mathematics paper lasting roughly 50 minutes
  • A verbal reasoning paper lasting roughly 50 minutes

All students must aside from those applying to Bushey Meads School must take a written music test. This however does not require students to have any prior musical knowledge.

Bushey Meads offers an additional test which is completely optional called the Technological Aptitude Test, this includes:

  • Two multiple choice papers based on non-verbal reasoning
