When it might be right to do some 11 Plus Non-Verbal Reasoning Exam specific work in year four.

While some families do start work on Non-Verbal Reasoning in year four it’s really not necessary, there’s still plenty of time.

We’d suggest during year four that time is much better spent working on core English and Maths skills which take a long time to develop.

Equally we’d suggest children are much better off reading and doing other activities to build up their vocabulary than doing Non-Verbal Reasoning exercises.

If children are very advanced (in literacy and numeracy) then perhaps some work may be usefully done during the summer holidays at the end of year four to help them develop a core understanding of the types of question they will face.
