CEM 11 Plus Verbal Reasoning Question Type 1- Comprehension Text
These questions are not really any different from the type of 11 Plus comprehension text children will see in any other 11 Plus exam, Independent School Exam or SATS exam. Children should be very familiar with comprehension tests because they are taught in schools.
Children need excellent core English skills to be able to do well in these tests. They need to be able to read quickly and fluently and accurately and they need a very wide vocabulary. Those children who have dealt with more complex texts (classic books as an example) will be at an advantage.
The type of questions which are asked will not be a surprise to children and as usual they may contain some very close options but only one correct answer. Children need to be able to think carefully and clearly as it is all too easy to leap at the wrong answer, especially under exam conditions.
