Codes questions take such a lot of time, how can we cut it down?

Firstly don’t worry, code questions always take a long time, perhaps between 30 seconds and a minute per question depending on the child and the difficulty. The good news is that if your child follows the recognised technique they should be getting 100% on these questions.

To help them speed up firstly we would recommend just letting them know that the questions take a little time, sometimes this revelation means they tackle them with a greater degree of positivity.

Secondly make sure they are approaching the question using the quickest technique.

Thirdly being very familiar with the alphabet in advance really helps children understand how to go forwards and backwards quickly. There are a number of exercises children can do to help themselves.
