Why do tests include NVR if it isn’t studied in schools?

NVR was developed to differentiate children by their potential regardless of their educational background. The assumption was that you could take a child from the hinterland of Africa with very little formal learning and compare their educational potential to a child from a formal education background at a top first world school.

Schools use it more narrowly to try to ensure they target potential and so the social background or school experience children have will not be a differentiating factor. The aim is only partially effective as some preparation can help in NVR tests.
