What are the real chances of getting into a Cumbria Grammar School?

Cumbria does not have a full provision of Grammar Schools. In Kent for instance the top 25% of primary school pupils will find a place , in Cumbria the figure is much lower.

While there is only one Grammar School in Cumbria, this is offset by the rural nature of the county   which means that competition won’t be as severe as if a larger population lived nearby. Even so parents should treat the process as competitive and only bright children who have been well prepared will get through. One of the core reasons some children will get through and others won’t is simply how they deal with the pressure on the day.
